Aideen Mockford

I'm a Wife, Mother, Carer and Artist based in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

After many years of doing Art as a hobby when time permitted, I challenged myself to do my first solo Art Exhibition. It was installed in Ranfurly House, Dungannon for the month of November 2021. It was a hugely positive experience and set me on the road to a career in Art.

I work primarily in acrylic with an emphasis on the natural world and have been recently working in cold wax with oil paint.

My pieces vary in size and style, depending on the subject and how it inspires. I tend to follow a realistic, detailed piece with a much more abstract one, each yielding its own rewards.

I love to use colour to create the mood or sense of a place or scene. Many pieces come about through a memory of a person or place and I’ll play with various media to achieve the desired result. I am constantly inspired by the natural world, particularly seascapes, and the beauty and wonder therein.

I work mainly in acrylics, oils and cold wax with oil paint, but will happily experiment with any medium as I explore my rediscovered creativity.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating it.

Aideen was an old school friend and I heard about how great her art work was, so I commissioned a piece; Narin, Portnoo, Co Donegal. If I tell you it exceeded my expectations, I’m in love with it, absolutely fabulous Artist.

We have one piece of original artwork by Aideen; an abstract piece inspired by Graffiti. It brings us great pleasure and has brought life and colour to the room where it hangs. We really enjoy her art and look forward to future exhibitions of her work. Aideen is also a pleasure to deal with and I hope she continues to enjoy great success!

Aideen’s artwork is fantastic, we fell in love with the piece as soon as we saw it and it has now transformed the space where it now lives. Really excited for more pieces as they are always so unique and beautiful!

Your beautiful paintings give a real sense of life and warmth to the subjects and scenery you paint. We particularly enjoy the variety of your work from tribes people in Africa to stunning views of Donegal. We enjoy them all.

An artist is nothing without a gift and Aideen has a gift that fills a canvas in a beautiful way. No matter how often I’ve looked at the painting I own, it always bring me pleasure and never stops speaking to me as there are so many layers to her work.

I have known Aideen since we were children and I have always admired and loved her Art. She always had a passion for it but in the last few years she has flourished to being a recognized Artist with a great talent. I was lucky enough to buy one of her earlier works that I had always admired. I love the Colors and that it is of women working in Africa. But thankfully it now hangs proudly in my living room and it gets admired from everyone who sees it.

Introduced to Aideen’s work through a long-standing mutual friend, I was delighted to attend her first exhibition in November 2021. An exciting array of Aideen’s indisputable creative talent – beautiful landscapes and wonderful abstract pieces, any number of which I’d have given a red sticker! ‘Fiesta’ a blast of colour and dancing lights was added to my collection and now lives next to my WFH desk, giving me a lift each time I discover something new in it. Thank you, Aideen!
